Insanity – its treatment and the records Talk by Kathy Chater
Mental illness is still an uncomfortable subject for many. This talk covers where to look for the records and what kind of treatment sufferers were likely to receive at different periods.

Record Keeping by David Carter
How we keep the results of our history research is a personal choice and there are many good ways of doing so. However, making notes on scraps of paper, which later on we cannot find, as many of us seem to do is not one of them. This talk aims to offer simple and effective ways to organise notes and also demonstrate that even though a computer can help it really isn't necessary to use one.
September 13th
Maps for Family and Local History (Speaker TBA)
We are all familiar with the use of a variety of different maps in our daily lives, e.g. street A to Z; weather maps on the TV; the unique plan of the London Underground network. Family historians may initially limit their use of maps to locating a particular parish or village, but a greater use of maps can prove indispensable, since there are several specialised maps that can greatly assist in the research of family and local history.

The Villages of East London by Peter Lawrence
