What is the Super Name Index (SNI) and how can I use it?
It is a large database of surnames and associated forenames (or initials where full forenames are not available).
All our indexes, that are in a suitable format, are gradually being added to the SNI and all our recent publications are already on there.
There will always be other items for which we can only provide a research service such as the Betchworth burials.
The SNI is still in the early stages of development so come back from time to time to see what has been added and to see if experience has produced changes to the service on offer.
How much and what do I get? 1. For both members and non-members the cost of the list generated by the requested surname(s) will be £1 per page printed or 50 pence per page by email.
Please email for a quote stating the surname(s) you require - see last paragraph.
All payments in pound sterling.
2. From the initial query you will receive a list (a report) of surname(s) which match your request, together with related place codes. See page 1 in Example report and details (pdf) (opens in new window).
The place codes and associated place name are shown in the table below.
3. Once you have examined the first list and decided what further details you require please email (see last paragraph) for another quote stating required surname(s) and associated place(s). The cost will vary with the amount of information supplied.
See page 2 in Example report and details (pdf)(opens in new window).
