DNA and Family history meeting

3parks

Michele Leonard’s 8-part course of 4 Webinars and 4 Chat sessions leds to looking at some of her suggestions for labelling, tagging and documenting your matches and this is something we all may find interesting, and stimulating, to discuss.

  • How do you label your ancestors/their descendants? 1C/2C/ 3C2R, Pat 4, Mat 1.3, M1G1 Smith-Jones?

  • Where do you enter such codes?

  • Perhaps you don’t add labels? Maybe you put it all in the family tree you build (online/offline)?

  • What if you are managing results for different generations or other people?

  • How do you ID Unexpected but ‘need to follow up’ matches?

  • How do you identify which company you got your results from? And when (they occasionally change the Chip/formulas used in their testing)?

  • How much of your tree do you display publicly on a website?

  • What if you want to only pursue a particular, new, line?

  • What if your family tree on a website is INCORRECT? Your tree is incorrect/you think another person’s representation of your tree is INCORRECT?

You may be assured that we all have our own methodology but it is always interesting to hear other people’s ideas so please bring your suggestions to the meeting.

Different/controversial is Good!
